Whether you do it for fun or to get a job done, flying small unmanned aerials systems is just like most things: A little bit of preparation and planning can help ensure a successful and safe outcome.  Here are a few things to think about each time you fly.

Before Flight

  • Know the Rules: Be familiar with all of your local laws and ordinances
  • Self Assessment: Don't fly under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Choose Your Location Carefully:  Especially when you're getting familiar with Sprite

Until you are thoroughly familiar with Sprite, find an open area at least 100m x 50m (about the size of a football pitch or soccer field), with few obstacles.

Preflight Inspection

  • Know the Rules: Be familiar with all of your local laws and ordinances
  • Self Assessment: Don't fly under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Vehicle: Thoroughly inspected and fully operational
  • Blades: No nicks or cracks
  • Batteries: Fully charged
  • Controllers: Powered on, connected as required, range checked.

Practice Safe Piloting

  • Always Under Control: Avoid other people, animals and property
  • Maintain Visual Contact: Don't fly farther than you can see
  • Avoid Restricted Airspace: It's your responsibility
  • Be a Good Neighbor: Be respectful of other people's property and privacy
